In my continued songwriting journey I wrote a song about the feeling of insomnia and hypnogogic auditory hallucinations, and falling asleep next to someone you love.
lyrics
I slide into bed right next to you. My cold feet touching your warm legs. I kiss your cheek. You are already asleep.
I go to turn off my lamp and then I realize I'm not just that tired yet. So I pick up a book and I read for 45 minutes or so
Oh i get lost in the daydream world
Before I realize it that it’s 2 AM.
And i close my book and eyes fall into a dreamless slumber,
And then I wake up and realize
You are looking at me with those big blue eyes.
It is 3 AM, and I'm wondering why,
I say to you. Are you doing, okay? But you're asleep. You're going honk, shoe, me, me me, my, my, my.
You are sleeping with your eyes, open. Waiting for the world to look back into your beautiful soul.
And I want to close my eyes and start dreaming again: Of you and me and all that we wrote.
Oh i get lost in the daydream world
Before I realize it that it’s 4 AM.
So I close your and then my eyes, fall into a dreamless slumber,
And then I wake up and realize.
So, give me one more night in bed before I wake at dawn.
And I start my day again with a piece of bread, and a cup of coffee and a note that you're gone. And I look into your eyes on the portrait, on the table that I left one night wondering why?
